As a firm believer in all things monochrome and keeping my wardrobe colour to a minimum, it’s all in the ‘basic’ details that keep your wardrobe looking interesting.
Typographic prints or embroidery
With prints all the rage at the moment its easy to get caught up with loud and obnoxious prints that will last a season until the trend has come and gone. Keep prints to a minimum and opt for understated embroidery that draws subtle attention.
Hemlines
Don’t be afraid to cut your hemlines on your jeans. Cut to a flattering length (or a step hem) and fray for that extra added detail that instantly updates a boring old pair of jeans. If your daring get a sharpie and get drawing, you will be sure that your jeans are one of a kind.
Textures
Play with texture, even though you may be wearing all of the same colour, change the material or hue of clothing. Overlaying different fabrics to create more interest, without over complicating an outfit.
Accessorise with accessories
Sometimes a simple outfit is made a little more interesting with a good pair of shoes or boots, a handbag/clutch and a pair of sunglasses. An easy and quick way of changing what could be a repetitive outfit into something totally different in a change in accessories.
