Knowing how to pack light and make efficient use of your outfit from day to night is a skill that takes time and lots of planning. I was in a dilemma myself a few weeks ago when flying up to Sydney for an event with the clothes I was wearing and a small carry on. Wanting to keep as casual and comfortable whilst traveling for the flight down, but something I could literally change a couple of items of clothing/accessories (within 5 minutes flat) and be ready for a night out.
Opting for comfy pair of Nobody Denim jeans and a big and loose cowl neck Saba knit jumper, boots and finished off with my trusty J Brand denim jacket – I was travel ready.In order to change this outfit as quickly as possible I changed only 2 items. The denim jacket for a long line sleeveless Witchery vest and boots with a little more detail. Already the look changed completely – No need to pack a whole new outfit when you can pack just a couple of items (after planning the initial outfit!) and alter a casual outfit into something more night time appropriate.
Ideas to keep in mind:
1. Keep the initial outfit as basic and practical as possible
2. Change the outfit with either a jacket/vest you can layer
3. Take a timeless bag or pack a clutch inside and ditch the bag in the evening!
4. Wear a comfy pair of shoes whilst traveling and pack a pair of heels/boots
5. Plan in advance and your carry on will thank you later.
